pal articles shipped from Portland .on
the steamers of the Japanese fleet will

this morning. The steamer arrived at
tha mills yesterday afternoon. She Is

and came to thle city from Ladysraith,
British Columbia, where she had been
lying for over a month.
The comerlc's last cargo was coal
from Comox, British Columbia, to Nome,
During the early part of the year the
steamer sailed from New Tork for
Japan with a general cargo. She was
In Yokohama, Kobe and Mojl last April
and May, and there witnessed numerous
celebrations of Japaneae victories. The
steamer came across-the Pacific light
from Japan to San - Francisco, hoping
to get a cargo In the Bay City for Yoko
hama . and reach tha mikado s seaport
before July 1. but, she was unable te
do no.
While lying at Ladysmlth. ons of
the Chinese firemen Informed the engi
neer on watch that he was going to do
just as he pleased. He began to cut up
capers in tha engine room and refused
to be calm, so the toe of the engineer's
