"At the Trans-MlssIsslppl congress Portland got all ahe went after," ssys Tom Richardson, who returned this morning from attendance at that meet ing and a tour through the Mississippi valley to New Orleans, concluding with a trip to El Paso, Loa Angelea and San Francisco. "The Oregon delegation was signally honored by the congress, being given the presidency, the convention of 190$, and two special resolutions, one relating to the Columbia river and the other to the Lewis and Clark exposi tion." Mr, Richardson on his trip spoke to business men'a gatherings by appoint ment at Boise. Stlt Lake. Denver. Topeka. St. Leouls and many places in KAnaas, LsDulaana and Texas. , "I found many Interested listeners everywhere," he says. "There la a great desire among the people of those states to come west. Some of them say they are tired of expositions, but want to eome out here and aee the country. Others say they are coming to see what the Pacific northwest can do In the way of getting up an exposition. Every rail road between southern California and the British Columbia line will oe crowded next year."
