Unable to produce $1,000 ball, he was sent to the county Jail. . ; Mrs. Margaret Mountain Stephenson died1 Sunday at 87 North Tenth street, aged 16. Mrs. Stephenson was the daugh ter of Capt. Thomas Mountain, a pion eer of Portland. She had lived on the Pacific coast since 1862, and In Portland stnce1857. She leaves a large family of children and - many relatives and friends. The children who survive her are: Mrs. J. B. Mansfield of San Fran clsoot M. William Stephenson of San Franclsoo; R. E. Stephenson, the Misses Emma. Catherine and Louise Stephenson of this city and T. M. Stephenson of Missoula Mont. Her father lived in this. city and she has relatives in Cali fornia. Fisher, formerly master of the steamer tug Lls ile,; to collect the sum of $282.25, is being tried today in the United States circuit court. The defendant is T. E. Taylor, owner of the vessel. Fisher al leges that he paid out money for sup plies from his own pocket. The defense declares that, the money paid out was from the steamer's funds. Fisher is represented by Spenoer A Davis. J. H.
