"I don't lookr for any big war In the cracker business," says J. B. Morln, Oregon manager of tbe Standard Biscuit company of San Francisco, with head quarters In this city. "We are not an ticipating any trouble and intend to keep out of a fight as long as possible. Of course if the time comes when we Bee our business showing a decrease we will very likely formulate some plan of campaign to regain It but from pres ent indications we will not have to re sort to that kind of work to get busi ness, as. we are -showing a rapid gain every -week." .-. yj-:..: - -..-'..:-. The Standard Biscuit company la a recent comer in this territory, having established a- branch in this city sev eral; months ago. The first quarters were located' on(Flrsf street; between Salmon and Main streets, but they were too small for the growing business, and the new quarters which the company' now occupy at .'li Front, street were selected. "Here we have more room," says Mr, Morln, ''and we Intend to stay and do business. v ; "I lo not think that the cut 'made by the Inland Qracker company of Spokane in this territory will cause ft price war. The Inland company Is an Independent concern and has a. perfect right to quote -any price It pleases on. crackers. - I saw one of thellr circulars announcing the cut, but paid but little attention to it, as I don't think It will create much of a flurry. '"' - -! - - "With the quotations on flour as high as they are at present it will be a dead loss to the Inland company for every pound of crackers It sells. The price of crackers now is quite reasonable, when you come to consider the cost of msnufacturo, and I don't think that it will, pay anyone to ut the, present figures. It may be that the . Inland Cracker Company bas some money which It wints to lose In this manner, but that is Its business.: " ; "On account of the action of that'eon cern In cutting prices we have with drawn our men from that territory, as we do not care to do business at a loss. If we can't make a legitimate profit we don't care to do business at all. "Our Mr. Jacoby.fwM be In the city during the coming week and will attend to a few. business affairs. It may be that he will decide then on just what kind of a factory he will erect in this city. "IJo, I don't think there will be much of a cracker war Just now." ..
