More than a, hundred plates were laid amid profuse table decorations of American Beauty oaes and cnlla lilies. Numerous toaBts were ' given, Inter spersed with musical selections by the lJalmatier Bisters' orchestra. In response to a toast. "Masonry as I Know It."' J. M. Hodsoa, M. V. P. G. M., told of conditions that surrounded Ma sonry 40 years ago, comoared with those of today. He was followed by P. S. Malcolm, on th subject of "I am a Ma son." Judge M. C. George, P. M., talked on "Masons vs. Ladles." Governor Chamberlain waa to have responded to a toast 'Masons In Office, " but tent his regrets. ' Dr. W. T. William son was assigned to the toast and spoke in a happy vein. Chief Justice1 F. A. Moore, who .was down for a toast on 'Masonry and Law," was unavoidably absent. Worshipful Master Willis Fisher was toaatmaster, The program was concluded by Past Master B. 8. Pague, with a brief recital of the history and achievement of the lodge. McFarland. 2000 DOCTORS ARE INVITED TO COME Aided by physicians from neighbor ing states, Oregon medicos expect to secure the annual convention of the National Medical association in 1906, during the Lewis and Clark fair. The local society, at a recent meeting, dis cussed the convention and all are in favor of bringing it to Portland. A communication from the King county, Wash., society was received signifying a willingness to aid Portland. The Se attle medical . men stated that in case Portland does not desire the annual na tional meeting, their " City would be In the race. The Oregon association will meet in a few days to take action with the Portland body. ' The Stat board of counselors .will confer with the local society and the Lewis and Clark com mission, , If the convention Is secured it" will mean the assembling In Portland of 2.000 physicians from all parts.,. of -the United States for a period of at least Ave days. ' t The meeting to be held between the physician and the Lewis and Clark of ficials I for the purpose of perfecting plans whereby Portland's claim' may be presented, at the 1904 meeting of the national body, which takes place In At lantic City, N.J., June 7 to 10. DENTAL STUDENTS WILL NOT STRIKE The tudent body at the North Pacific Dental college have decided not to go on strike, as they intended to do yes terday. The dean, Dr, Herbert C. Mil ler, was present at their meeting yes terday, and he says: , "Everything has been arranged satis factorily to both the faculty and stud ents, and the majority will abide by the decision of the faculty. Of course there are some who never do want to do any thing and they will probably go on Fri day; also all those who are -anxious to. earn a little' more money,' for 'many of out young men have to work to keep themselves In funds, and by their get ting a longer vacation ... they will, of course, be able to make so much more money. .
