Walla Walla, for a tlmo called

Baseball League, has decided that she
cannot afford to go down to posterity
with that reputation. For some time
there' haa been a general feeling that the
Garden City would have to throw up the
sponge and withdraw from the league.
all because the baseball enthusiasts.
while willing to witness the games, re
fused to contribute to the team's sup
port. Messrs. Robert Burns and Clay
ton Van De Water, the managers, have
already gone 1600 In the hole, and were
on the point of giving up the tank. This
wakened .the city from Its accustomed
lethargy and now the chances are very
favorable that Walla Walla will stick
the season out.
The people who took hold of the base
ball situation agreed If was a shame
thnt the Garden City, larger than Pen
dleton, Colfax and Dayton put together,
hoM withdraw from the floid and have
the mortification of seeing those towns
stay In the game and support strong,
winning teams.
Quiet row prevails In Walla walla.
and the hopes of the. fans seem about
to bo realised, that this city will play
In a league that will last the entire
season.
