W. C Te U. TO MEET FRIENDS
The Central W. C. T. U. will give a
reoeotlon next Wednesday evening at
the First Baptist Church for the State
President. Mrs. Helen IX Harford, and
for the large number of members -who
have recently Joined the association. A
musical program has been arranged, a
special feature of which will De two
songs by the Oltphant sisters. Mrs.
Harford will deliver a short address.

ters of ths city. A pleasant social hour
Is promised and refreshments will be

present. Mrs. Harford will attend the
meeting of the Central Union Wednes
day afternoon.

The sad news of the death f Mrs.
tdlth Bellinger ( Edwards, daughter of
Judge Bellinger, has been reoelved, Mrs.
Edwards died at Buffalo, I1L, last Satur.
day. Friday of last week word was
calved by Judge Bellinger that Mrs.
Edwards, his eldest daughter, was seri
ously 111 with pneumonia Saturday ths
news of her death cams. Mrs. Edwards
was well known In Portland and loved
by all who had her acquaintance. Bhe
leaves a husband and six children.
