with th. abduction of his own child,
John M. Coleman la under arrest at thia
place. He was arrested yesterday upon
the arrival of the ateamor Umatilla,
having left San Francisco but a few
days before. When Coleman secured a
divorce from hi former wife the cus
tody1' of the child, a girl, was awarded
her. The woman married again and
Coleman enticed the child awav from
Its homo and then fled with it to Brit
ish Columbia. The mother, with extra
dition paper, 1. aaid to be on the way
here to take action against her former

A TEXAS WAR.
FORT WORTH. Tex.. Nov. 6.-In a
general shooting affray at Orange yester
day Jeff Chenault, Sheriff Jordan and
Tony Jones were killed. Will Harris,
who started the row, escaped without In
jury. He met Chenault and began to
abuse him. The latter threatened him
with arrest, but did not take, him Into
custody Immediately. His neglect result
ed in his death, for Harris at once went
after a shotgun and killed Chenault at
the first fire. General fighting followed,
advocates of both .ides joining In. Har
ris escaped In a buggy and is being pur
