LIVELY, MEIvTINQi Clinton Kelly. Board ofTrade (Discusses Car Service. The' Clinton Ke)ly Board of Trade, In point of attendance and spirit manifest ed. broke the record last night- All of tbe delightful suburb of Rich mond and some of its borrowed neigh bors attended last night' "services." The matter of Interest which brought nil these people together at the W. C ptrects, whs ,a proposition made ( by ihe City 4 (Suburban to Its Richmond, Ivenll worth1 and Woodstock patrons, of 10- minute service from Third and Tamhlll streets directly through to Woodstock, Mingle ear 10 connect at what is known as the Richmond switch. East 2fith and Ells worth streets. At the present time cars leave Third and Yamhill every 30 minutes for Woodstock. cd every SO minutes from the same point for Richmond. , These cars use the same track from the down-town terminus to the Richmond switch, Utws affording 15-mlnute cars from Third stret to tbe switch. The pro. posed serves - will' glve Woodstock and .Richmond a go.mlnute" schedule, whereas these saburbs have butjKMnlnute cars at present. No one along that section of the line now receiving lS-ttiinute cars ob Jeeted to the change whoh will give them to-minute service, but the pride of 'tho Richmond people was touched becausi for. them a transfer was provided at thjs Richmond switch. They felt, that their pretty suburb was being side-tracked, or made a sort of tall td Kenllworth and Woodstock's ktu, and, notwithstanding that they.were ta have three cars per hour instead of two, they were there to uegotate a protset. V C. F. Bwlgert, of Ute City & 'Buburban explained that the change was only tern porary. Ho said that last Peoember fh directors pf the company had' voted: t) appropriation for double-tracking the Una to the Richmond switch; tliatberalls bad been' purchased and were how load ing at Antwerp; that they would arrive here some time in August, anji that so soon thereafter as the work , could, "be done, the double track would be laid and both Richmond and Woodstock: would have through JO-mlnute Cars. With this " sxplanatlon; the Richmond contingent were satlHfled to give the new schedule a months' trial, anyway, and If the service Droves unsatisfactory the old scheduls may-be resumed. The' transfer, at the Richmond switch Was the whole bone of contention. The Richmond gentlemen had the Idea wlh them that if this were made neces sary their section would' be robbed of some of Its laurels ss one of the most esartnlng of the city's residential sec tions. . The new' ear service will begin some time next week, and cars will depart trem Third and Tamhlll at 10 minutes after, the hour, on the half hour, and 10 minutes ta ttie bour.. ,; j uJ , IH' 1, :i H ",r1gl ti booO 'o,,.,.
