The principle fcal- tiro of tho ore is galena, carrying a large percentage of silver. Several assays of surface rock made some tune ago by II. O. Hunks, ex-state mineralogist of California, to whom the ore wits sent by Mr. Hobbins, shows from r'itl.'J- to i'M ill) to the ton. with 7,'i '2 per cent of lead. More recent assays made at Walla Walla run from ft to ills, and the Inst assay made by Mr. (iagnon gives '2l ut. silver.
