Bacin, in the Northwest Terri
tory, is un interesting document.

in the Uasin. and about 0,500
miles of the continuous lake,
and-river navigation. Of the
whole area, 030,000 square
miles are suitable for the growth
of jwtatoes, 4.07.0U0"for barley,
818.000 for wheat: while the
pftstornl country is set down at
SOO.000 square miles. Of the
mines nothing very definite is
t known; but there seems lit
tle doubt that the Great Mac-
ju.ie Pasin is, in parts at any
le, very rich in mineral de
bits of all sorts, including the
auriferous strata and the coal
formations. More important
than all, it is said that a petro
leum area of vast extent has
been found, and that Canada J
