Pretty .chpcolate seta have teak wood handles Water jugs are a special feature of the dinnertable, juat now, and should be in glasst Wedewgod designs in tableware are again 'popular and in much de mand in this country. Thoughjinltps are tho "popular" dinner-.' - small ferns in pura whito vevj. . mncVused by ladios who affect the pure and simple in their decorations. Dainty gold salt cellars are in the shape of the four-leaved shamrock, aud the little gold spoons accompa nying them have Bhararocks enam eled in color on them. Brand is sliced very thin and placed in a serviette (napkin) and a white satin ribbon placed around it, a small spray of ferns and small white flowers being laid upon the table. i'iuger howls are used at the moil modsst table. It is a whim of fash ion that tho lattor should be filled two-thirds with water, and a banditti of sweet Patma violets submerged in it. Pitchers of cut-glass, in classic shapes, aro used for water and wine ; claret jugs are seeti in the same waro with luaf ducoration about tho neoi: and baso ; these are tall, narrow, and oval. The fancy, bright-colored scarfs once used and much ornamented on dinner tablet?, havo been discarded for those of dark-hued plush, undec orated, but with heavy fringe at the ends. The newest China sets all include the chocolate pyt as a necessary ar;i cle of table use for luncheon. The more costly tea services do not, as owners ate tuppoued to have silver OIK'S. Ices are served in little paper cups surrounded by the paper petals of a rose or tulip or oilier htrjie blo.-wom. Uisquit glace and cafe parf.iit are tho favorite fashionable ices for serving in this manner. Roman punch is now made tempt ing by being soi ved in cups of ire. So perfect are these frozen cups that one is sometimes deceived hy ihu in nocent fraud until one's lingers got nipped by touching them. The figures on table linen are mostly geometrical, following tho lead of wall papers and ueneral household adorning, floral deueiis are not altogether displaced, and nu merous beautiful designs of these aro shown. When fruit is served, cither before breakfast or at tho table, a napkin being placed on tho plate, beneath the fruit, a guest should use that fruit napkin, after eating the fruit, although he may be served with an other at the tubfe. Cut glass is distinguishable from carved, etched, or engraved glass, by tho patterns being more geometrical in design, generally consisting of prisms of facets of four, six, or eight sidei; or of lines that are qtuto straight, like radiations, but which do not form prisms. Very handsome, and somewhat costly'toa sets come in fifty-two piece services in Bodley, Minton, and Royal Worooster from ?o0 to $100. These havo neither ehocolato nor coffeepot, no side dishes, cream mug, or butter dish, as the latter should be of silver with such a sot. Water and wave-like designs are in demand for silver dinner sets just now. A water god rising from the midst of undulating waves makes u handsome design. The spoons shoe d be in the shape of, or decorated vi h, shells of different shapes, wilti twisted or coiled handles. The irlas? used on even very elal orate und expensive- tables is mo c of the inexpensive "I'antrio" ma!: than real "cut." Tho craze for tin ancient or "antique" in all our t ier.- ures and possessions can hardly ax tend to glass. Few specimens of real cut glass remain in vases o vessels having any right to be termed ancient. Tho correct form is to set In:: -' tables without cloths, but this. course, necessitates a handsm polished table top. Those who ;.r for to have something upon ii board use in the center a ha'.in damask cloth one yard square, hen ily fringed. Upon this are arrant: fruits, flowers, etc., while the p!a and glasses are placed upon the -. side polished border. Jav Gould gave a man a bow 1g South the other day. Jay is get1 to be generous. " Charired with being a vagrant," ' said the prosecutor as an old man named Ivneuer was marched out b fore Judge Hutchins Thursday morn ing. " Are you guilty or not guilty ?" "Not guilty, by gum," said the prisonor. " I've got a visiolo support, and if you don't believe me luok a' that woman. She's my wife and takes in washing. It's a cold di when I can't supiort myself.
