FANCIES FROM FOX.
Fox Valley, April 10, lSSfc.
The Long Creek Republic is
busted. The Deputy Sheriff went
over there and took every man
and a whole parcel of women to
Canyon City, to appear before
the Spanish Inquisition part of
them as witnesses to convict the
other part, so as to have them
punished for not being dead shots
a terrible warning to the young
growing generation to try in the
future not to be guilty of like er
rors. One of the fellows left behind
to guard the little flock, is said
to be Stark mad. and we think,
although he is said to he perfect
ly harmless, that he will necessa
rially suffer some, as he is very
fond of company, and when 1
told him 1 loo, was going lo leave,
he became noisy, rushed out of
the "Palace," and the last we
saw of him he was amusing him
self dancing a jig on the side
walk, and waving his handker
chief to an imaginary angel in the
air.
From the Republic we took our
course West, and after three
hours ride, through a finely cul
tivated and thickly settled coun
try, we landed at Hamilton.
Here we found a store, black
smith shop, saloon, church and
a good school, and last but not
least, for dad was powerful hun
gry we found a hotel, a home
for the travelers, kepi by the
Hon. J. H. Hamilton, and rigid
here let me sav that if you could
induee such a man to run a hotel
in your little town there would
be less kicking done by the un
fortunales who have to visit you
twiee each year to attend the
Spanish Inquisition. Don't
trouble yourself, my Roy. Groth
tc; Thompson are equal to any.
1Ci. J We met Mr. Hall at
Hamilton he is a men-bant of
the "Long Creek Republic" ami
he told us he was thinking of re
moving to Hamilton with his
stock of merchandise as Form as
he couid build him a store to
move into.
We were pleased to meet Mr.
Franklin and lady, and some of
your readers will be glad to know
that she is fast regaining her
health, and dad says she looks
almost as young as she ditl ten
years ago. when he first saw her.
We will be in Canyon next
week, providing we can get a
1 ody guard, so please engage a
sn ail room of Aey and Hob, for
our finances are running very
low, and dad's bottle is almost
empty. That Roy.
