At the school meeting Mr. Joe Keener was re-elected clerk and Mr. J. J. Patterson was elected director. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Ghas. Lee died last Thurs day. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire coin munity. Mr. Ladd, our efficient school teacher, has been employed to teach the school of this district for three months commencing April 1st. A defective fine came very near destroying one of the stores of of this place, the other day, hut a few buckets of water in time smothered the fire. Mr. Joe Rover who has been a fixture in the "Palace Saloon" ever since it started, has resigned his position as "mixologist," and will leave for Pendleton in a few da vs. John Canady and Newt Leslie had some trouble, when Newt painted John's eye a rather too dark a color. Canady went home procured a pistol and fired two shots at Newt, one of them slight ly grazing the shoulder blade. Canady was arrested and will have hid trial next Thursday. (N. j.
