Tho House Committeo on Pub lic Lands have agreed upon a bill with reference to the Public Lands of every class. In it are embraced some important and good changes from the laws now in force. Among these is a pro vision as to timbir lands, which restricts any person, company or corporation to the purchase of no mere than the timber on four sections of land, the mininum price of which shall lie $10 per acre.- Another clause provides that pieces of land less than 1(50 acres may be sold at private sale for not less than $7.00 per acre. IMineral and reserved lands are exempted from classification as desert lands. The price of desert lands to be twenty-five cents an acre, and the time of occupation and irrigation is reduced from five years to three years, with privil ege to mortgage one-half the tract to enable the settler to make im provements thereon: the mortgage to go to the reserved rights of the Government. The bill also pro vides that a strip two rods wide on each side of section lines on public lands shall be opened as a Hiblie highway, by the proper authorities. upon petition to them signed bv ten householders in the countv.
