Martha A. was horn in Pike, one of the Mississippi counties of north ern Missouri, OjL 3, 1SJ1. She was tli3 e dest of a family of four sons and iivo daughters of F.- S. and Mary Ann Bonham. In the year 184.0 the family came to "Wis. and settled in a locality called Hur ricane, in the town of Lancaster, Grant county, eight years before this b2came one of the . t .tes of the" American Union.
