would like to see the law for such

took their departure for Portland,
last Monday, to attend tho meeting
of the Grand Lodge, I O. O. F., of
Oregon.
Bobt. Aiken, Republican nominee
for District Attorney, for this Dis
trict, refuses to run on the ticket,
hence a new nomination will have to
bo made.
Mr. Trowbridge, brother of B. C,
returned to this place a few days
ago, after an absence of several
months below.
The 3d Quarterly Meeting, for
this charge, was held at Prairie City
last Sunday, and on Monday even
ing the Elder preached in this place.

was brought to Carson from Lake Ta
li oi last week by Henry Wilson. It
has leaves snmothing like these of an
artichoke spread out, and thick like
a cactus. Tho entiru plant is of a
blood rod color, and the surface of the
leaves is covered all over with dehcato
traceries of what appears to be frost
' work.
