r. Tils Brant County M ONLY PAI'CR IN GRANT COUNJ.Y. Official Paper For Grant Coimt7. Omyon City, Saturday Dec. 27, 170. Sk fl. Shepherd, Editor. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. "We take pleasure in announcing th.it wc have made arrangements with the publisher of the Chicago "Weekly News which enable us to club that paper with the Grant County News at flic very low price of $3. 50 per year, (invariably rash in advance) a trine over the regular price of the News alone. This is be yond question the lirst time that a metropolitan weekly has been brought within the reach of subscri bers at so small an additional juice. Por this comparatively small amount our readers can place them selves in command of the whole sit uation. All events of interest, local, national and foreign, will be present ed completely and promptly by one or the other of these publications. The single feature of full and trust worthy Chicago market quotations will be worth thriblc, to many of our readers, than the additional amount involved in the clubbing ar rangement. To those who are not familiar with the character of the Chicago News, we would say it is the best representative of independent journalism in the "West. The "Weekly News is a large eight column folio, "cram full" of tele graph and general news, short and pithy editorials on the topics of the day, written in a familiar yet incisive style, and in all its departments evi dentlv aims to give facts in few words, without the verbiage and line writing which render so many of the large metropolitan journals "a wear iness to the iiesh." Facts, not words, appear to be its motto. Ve trust that all our readers will avail themselves of this unusual op portunity of securing a Chicago weekly paper at so trilling a cost. Specimen copies of the Chicago "Weekly News may be seen at this office. There is a iocjrr, white mule roam-lug- the streets of this town, that should be cared for bv the owner. The poor, dumb brute has a chronic sore on its hips about a foot square; how the sore was made we know not but whoever caused it is a lit subject to receive a line for cruelly to ani mals. "We hope this notice will meet the eve of the owner, be he rich or poor, and that he will have pity on the mule and pride enough about himself and sensitiveness of people's stomach's to at least to put a plas ter on the sore, if the mule must earn its own living on Main Street. No charges for this notice. Teachers Institute. A session of the "Grant County Teacher's Insti tute", will be held at the Court House, in Canyon City, on Monday and Tuesday, the 29th and 30th of present month. It is hoped that all friends of education, and all teach ers, especially, who can, Avhether ac tively engaged in the pursuit of the profession or not, will feel it their duty to attend and aid as far as prac ticable to make this a pleasant and profitable session.
