Want Dgs Restrained A petition will be presented to the common council Monday night ac companied by an ordinance provid ing for restraining and prohibiting dogs from running at large on1 the streets of Astoria. It is understood the grocery merchants arc back of the petition. They are willing to conform with all, ordinances relative to placing their products at a certain height above the floor or sidewalk, and in doing so believe they are en titled to some protection. It is claim ed that often consignments of goods are delivered to their stores and it is impossible to take immediate charge of the. goods, and therefore they are not immune from the dogs that are allowed to run at large. If the movement is from a sanitary point of view, they want it enforced in its entirety which can only be ac complished by passing an ordinance prohibiting dogs from running at large. .
