FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1909. THE MORNING ASTORIAN, ASTORIA, OREGON. The Daily Market Report PORTLAND, April 29.Tlier wi i distinctly easier feeling In tho egg market today. Some of tho dealers held stiffly for 25 centi end maintained that the market had loit none of the atrength of the past few wcekt, Nevertheleit. it waa conceded that the movement to the Sound 'lm fallen to imall propor tion!, and the fact that tho northern marketa are not taking Oregon eggs In a free way naturally means ihut they are getting supplies from the East. if,; y , ., 'f From thle time on the Eaat will be a factor in the Coast egg trade, for prices East and West are now such as to permit of shipments here from i Mississippi and Missouri Valleys. It jis understood that several carloads have been received at Seattle this week, and It Is known that at least ion car of Eastern eggs la on the way to tills market. Eggs were quot' led at 20 to' 21 cents in Chicago yes lerday, and one Front atrect dealer !ald today that Eastern eggs cold b aid down hero at this time at 23 ents. This atatement was disputed by others, but the fact remains that li prices stand importations are pos sible. ' ' In the event of a slight advance in :he East or decline of some conse quence here, the situation would of lourse be changed materially, but i j clear now that production in this ttate Is falling off, while at the same jlme current receipts show a greater percentage of "rota" than a few weeks go. It mutt also be remembered hat most of tho eggs coming here rom the East at, this time of the r, which are counted better keepers nan current local receipts, will not be jut on tho market until later in the tason. !
