Heresy expects to be able eventually
to forecast temperatures at Milwau
kee a month ahead will be establish
ed by him in the near future. Be
lieving that the temperature of the
lake ha an important influence on
temperature on land, the Major will
take temperatures at varying depths
daily 'and expects in time by noting
changes, to be able to make longer
forecast, lie expects to have the
records taken by fishermen who
make daily trips.

that the Common Council of the
City of Astoria has declared it de
termination and intention to re-establish
the grade on Fourteenth street
from the south line of Jerome avenue
to the south line of Lexington avenue,
so that the grade when so re-estab
lished will be at the following eleva
tions above the base of grades as
established by ordinance No. 71 of the
City of Astoria, towit:
At the south line of Jerome avenue
at 209 feet above the base of grades;
at the north line of Lexington avenue
at 238 feet above the base of grades;
at the south line of Lexington avenue
at 242 feet above the base of grades;
that between the points above desig
nated the grade shall be upon an even
and gradual slope.

14th street to the west line of 15th
street, by grading the same to the
proper sub-grade and macadamizing
the same with crushed rock from gut
ter to gutter to a thickness of 9 inches
throughout, and the construction of
cement sidewalks with park spaces,
curb and gutters on both sides of the
street, excepting the sidewalk, curb
and gutter in front of lot '12 in block
20 which is exempt.
That the costs and expenses of con
structing said improvement shall be
defrayed bv special assessment upon
the lots, lands and premises so bene
fitted by the same, which said lots,
lands and premises are included in the
special assessment district including
all lots, lands and premises so bene
fitted, to-wit:
Lots 7, 8, 9. 10, 11 and 12 in block
20, and
Lots 1. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in block 55,
