Dealen today reported a fair de mand for all classe of poultry, par ticularly for chicken end ducks, but with little or no chance from the quo tation of the pit few days. Arriv ed for the day were about sufficient for the demand. Under pressure of heavy receipt, veal coutinuei a trifle weak and the outlook ii for tower pricei in the near future. Pork held up firmly today and offering generally were ihort of the need of the trade. Butter production i steadily though slowly increasing, but the current output it t i 1 1 abort of re quirement and the market remain firm. Dealer look for a decline, though perhaps, a alight one, before the end of (hit month Salmon Supply la Very Light Since the cloie of the salmon fish ing season on the Columbia river the first of the month stocks In the local market have been steadily dwindling, until now they are all but exhausted Dealer look for light offerings from the Willamette, and Clackamas riv ers, for under the law fishing in those stream i permitted until March 15. There were no change in price, either of (almon or other fish, today, but smelt are becoming scarce and the price may be raised before the end of the week. , , Egg Market Well Maintained. The egg market was steady to firm today, the result of lighter shipment from the country and a good general demand. It is believed that consid erable quantities of Oregon' eggs are now being sent by shippers direct to the Sound, for the local receipts thus far thi week have been materially lighter than those of last week- On the street today 24 to 25 cents a doien was quoted, and at these fig ures there was no complaint of in ability to sell. NOTICE TO ESTABLISH GRADE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Common Council of the City of Astoria, has declared its determination and intention to establish the grade on Irving ave nue from the east line of Sixth street to the west line of Eighth street so that the grade when so established will be at the following elevation above the base of grades as estab lished by Ordinance No. 71 of the City of Astoria, to-wit: At the east line of Sixth street oa the north side at 223 feet and on the south side at 226 feet above the base of grades; at the east and west line of Seventh street at 208.5 feet on the north side and 2114 feet on the south side above the base of grades; at the west line of Eighth street at an elevation of U87-5 feet on the north and at 1904 feet on the south aide above the . base of grades; ' that between the points above designated the grade shall be upon an even and gradual slope. :. , . , By order of the Common Council OLOF ANDERSON, Auditor and Police Judge of the City of Astoria, Oregon.
