age by the freee. The crop was
mors or less generally frosen, but
onions ire less susceptible to damage
by frost than potatoes, and the
chances are that the crop as a whole
wilt be marketable.
Fish Supply Is Running Low.
Bad weather and unfavorable condb
tlons on the Columbia River and else
where have cut down the fish supply
locally to the lowest point known in
jnontbt. For the time the market is
practically bar of fresh salmon, eat
fiah, torn cod, smelt, crabs and rasor
clams.
', Butter Wankers Cheese Firm.
Butter prices In general held at yes
terday's pries level, but the tone of
the market was materially weaker
nd the prospect Is for a general de
cline in the near future. Cream sup
plies show a steady increase.
' Cheese is firm and stocks of new
make ire for the time so light as to
be of small consequence.- Storage
stocks are being heavily drawn upon
and the demand. for this Is strong,
though the bulk of the trade for the
present Is confined to this locality.
',' Poultry Plentiful and Easy.
Receipts of poultry generally were
liberal and prices showed slight
downward tremj ai.regsrd liens and
'"chickens. In other lines there were
no price changes, but the market wss
not strong..
; Best Oregon eggs moved it 37t to
40 cents, nd unless arrivals, prove
heavier thin ire expected the chances
are that there will be no further
changes this week. The supply today
was sufficient, but not much in excess
of the demand. ' ' ' ;
Veal Lowered Halt a Cent
' In country dressed, jncati the only
change in the market was a slightly
wUr tif in vest, the best grade
of whieh was lowered half a cent, o
10 cents a pound. Fork held its own
at the last quotation. In both lines
stocks weft fully sufficient for . the
demand.
