Beware of Frequent Colds.
A succession of colds or "a pro
tracted cold is almost certain to end
in chronic catarrh, from which few
persons ever wholly recover. Give
every cold the attention it deserves
and you may avoid this disagreeable
disease. How can you cure a cold?
Why not try . Chamberlain's Cough
Remedy? It is highly recommend
ed. Mrs. M. White, of Butler, Tenn.,

bothered with my throat and lungs.
Someone told me of , Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy. I began using it
and it relieved me at once. Now my
throat and lungs are sound and
well." For sale by Frank Hart and

THOSE STANDARD FINES.
The Standard Oil Company will
soon become used to being fined, and
the fines are of a sort not to be
"sneezed at"; nor is the Standard
sneezing at them; it is fighting them
bitterly, cleverly, exhaustively, as
money and wonderful talent can do it
When the law is exhausted and the
fines have to be paid, there may be
some sneezing wrought by the
chill incident to the adverse judg
ments and, the letting go of millions
in good hard cash. The Standard is
entitled to justice, even if it has no
friends.

THE FALL OF CASTRO.
Ex-President Castro, of Venezuela,
will never forget the Christmas of
1908. But he has made it what it is
and has none to thank for his down
fall save himself and his terrible lust
of gold and power; he has plenty of
the former, but he is shorn of the last
vestige of the latter and is ex-patriat.
to boot, the last civic extremity to
which man may fall. In many ways
his is a marvelous record of personal
achievement, coming up as he did
from the provincial farm through the
tortuous and devious ways of warfare,
politics, and civic crime to the head of
what might have been a model Re
public had his ambitions not stopped
short at the lure of gold and the sel
fish limitations of an usurped power,
than which nothing can more quickly
negative a lofty purpose or smother
an honest ambition. We do not know
that he ever had either; but whether
he did or not, his day is run and hs
is discountenanced and undone before
the whole world, as he should have
been. Venezuela is to be congratulat
ed upon the collapse of this man.
