Cathlamet Girl is Criti
caliyjll (Continued from page 1)
Mly.
The girl Madeline has been en
raged to marryher finance being a
yoortg Frenchman of Cathlamet.
In a statement made in writing
and signed by the girl, and she be
Eering it to be a dying statement,
tie is averred to have told all of the
tfory as she knows it She had been
31 several months ago, and accord-
tog to this story it is possible she
bad been wronged while under the
Biflnence of some .anesthetic.
A week or so ago she and her
another came to this city to consult
a physician, who informed the moth
er that the child was enceinte. The
nother refused to believe it, and the
yoong girl denied the possibility of
ft with all the vehemence of which
die was capable. Her lover, the
young Frenchman, also indignanly
refused to believe it, and came ' to
this city to demand an explanation
from the physician.
Then, according to the story as
old by those familiar with the cir
enmrsances, the mother and girl re
tnraed to Cathlamet, and the girl
again went to Dr. Peacock for treat
ment, still refusing to believe that
she was in any trouble. It s averred
that serious consequences have .re
sulted from Dr. Peacock's treatment
on this occasion. The physicians at
St Mary's last night say that a crim
inal operation has been performed
on the girl. Naturally until the facts
all come to litrht in the matter it is
not possible to state the truth of the
whole episode.
The peculiar cart of the whole
story, and which is nevertheless en
tirely believed by some of those fa
miliar with the facts, is that the girl
was perhaps' wronged while uncon
cious as the result of tome anesthe
tic, and of course she also denies all
knowledge of any criminal opera
tion.

cities. W. H. Leavitt, Win. J. Bry
an's son-in-law, has been asked to
take charge of the exhibition and act
as the American representative of
jhe society. Mr. Leavitt, who is en
gaged in the completion of a large

GIVES A SPLENDID HOMIE
PRESCRIPTION FOR STOM
ACH AND KIDNEV TROUBLE
AND RHEUMATISM.
The people here do not drink
enouuh water to keep healthy, ex
laimed well known authority.
The numerous cases of kidney and
bladder diseases and rheumatism are
mainly due to the fact that the
drinking of water, nature's greatest
medicine, ha been neglected.
Stop loading your system with
medicines and cure-alls but get on
the water wagon. If you are really
sick, why, of course, take the proper
medicines plain common vegetab'e
treatment, which will not shatter
the nerves or ruin the stomach."
To cure Rheumatism you must
make the kidneys do their work;
thev are the filters of the blood.
They must be made to strain out of
the blood the waste matter ana aews
that cause rheumatism; the urine
must be neutralised so it will no
lonuer be a source of irritation to
the bladder, and, most of all, you
must keep these acids from forming
in the stomach. This is the cause
of stomach trouble and poor diges
tion. For these conditions you can
do no better' than take the follow
in? nrescrintion: Fluid Extract Dan
delion, one-half ounce; Compound
Kariron. one ounce; Componn
Svruo Sarsaoarilla. three ounces. Mix
by shaking well in bottle and take
in teaspoonful doses after each meal
and at bedtime, but don't forget the
water. Drink plenty and often.
This valuable informaton and sim
pie prescription should be posted no
in each household and used at the
first sign of an attack of rheumatism
backache or urinary trouble, no mat
ter how slight
