switchboard for the nation.
This Hue new adjunct ii adapted
for the ready accommodation of
1200 subscriber!, and may be quick
ly Increased to cover the range of
business demanded by 4000 sub

the company's commerce, shall make
such changes necessary. The same
rule of development applies to the
new edifice on Exchange street; the
spaces there are so planned as to
meet the requirements of the busi
ness for the next ten years, and all
the apparatus will be terved with
that end in view. , And by January
lit, next, the company will have
kept iti word with Astoria and put
the whole new lyitem into effective
operation. ,
It is also making good on the
promised increase in the long dist
ance facilities between this city ami
Portland, doubling the service. They
have the new circuits already erect
ed as far aa Coble, coming thia way,
and there ii all the material on the
ground for closing the gap, and thia
wilt be done simultaneously with the
opening up of the new local work

Doan's Kidney Pills relieve back

Cure every kidney ill.
H. R. Carver, livinor at 286 Holli-
day street, Portland, Ore., saya:
Some years sbo Doan s Kidney
Pills nroved of great benefit to me
and I publicly recommended them.
Since then I have advised many of
my fellow workmen to give them a
trial and the results have been satis
factory in every instance. I believe
kidney trouble in my case was
brought on by a cold. I had always
been somewhat skeptical regarding
proprietary medicines but somehow
the claims made for Doan's Kidney
Pills Impressed me and I began their
use. Relief soon followed and I
have had no serious return of kidney
complaint Since."
