3 THE MORNING ASTORIAN, ASTORIA, OREGON. FRIDAY, SEPT. II TRANSPORTATION. The Daily Market Report CLASSIFIED ADVERTISEMENTS The:,KMUnt PORTLAND, Sept. 10. -The era of trouble in the salmon fishing grounds of the Columbia River be gun at noon today, when, according to the dictim of the people at the last election, the fall fishing for the lower section of the river that is, from the mouth of the'Sandy river to til tea opened. What will be the outcome of the difficulties are are sure to rise as the result of the complexity of laws now governing fishing operations on the river and the unsettled question of state jurisdiction, remains to be se seen, but that there is trouble ahead is certain, and during the remainder of his term of offi.ee the chances are that State Fish Warden McAllister will be the most vexed man of the commonwealth. One of the fishing laws the vox populi of this state recently enacted puts an end indefinitely to salmon fishing in the upper reaches of the river from the Sandy eastward. That law is now effective, and at a con ference yesterday between the Fish Warden and the city fish deaiers the latter decided rather than to contest the law they would handle no fish hereafter that are caught east of the Sandy. Whatever salmon are to be disposed of in this market must come from the lower rate. Floor. Grain and Feed.' Wheat Choice milling sorts. R. & N. R. R. train from Pendleton to Le Grande, Ore.' writes Sam A. Garber, a well known traveling man. "I was in the smok ing department with some other trav eling men when one of them went out into the coach and came back and said, 'There is a woman sick unto death in the car.' I at once got up and went out, found her very ill with cramp colic, her hands and arms were drawn up so you could not straight en them, and with a death-like look on her face. Two or three ladies were working with her and giving her whiskey. I went to my suitcase and got my bottle of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy (I never travel without it), ran to the water-tank, put a double dose of the medicine in the glass, poured some water into it and stirred it with a pencil; then I had quite a time to gel the ladies to let me give it to her, but I succeeded. 1 could at once see the effect and I worked with her, rubbing her hands, and in 20 minutes I gave her another dose. By this time we were almost into Le Grande, where 1 was to leave the train. I gave the bottle to the husband to be used in case another dose should be needed, but by the time the train ran into Le Grande she was all right, and I re ceived the tharjks ot every passenger in the car."
