ladies in their dainty gowns mingling
with the contrasting colors of the

which they will return to Clatskanie,

the University of Oregon at Eugene,
and Frank Parker and Otto Utzinger
at Stanford University at Palo Alto,

Mrs. Mary E. Griffiths and daugh
ter, Miss Florence, of Port Townsend,
Wash., and Mrs. T.- S. Billings, of
Lewiston, Idaho, who have been visit
Ing Mrs. M. J Fox and Mr. John Fox
left for Portland Friday morning, and
after several days' stay in that city
will go to their respective homes.
Mr. Griffiths is Mrs. Fox's daughter
and Mrs. Billings her sister.
The home of Miss Eva Holmes was
the scene of a delightful silver and
white china shower, last Thursday
evening, given in honor of Miss Flor
ence Goddard whose engagement to
Mr. Arthur Elbon has been made
known. There were 18 guests pres
ent who were entertained at cards
Miss Alice Goddard was the fortunate
holder of the highest cards, and re
ceiving the pretty gift prize offered.
After the catd game a dainty repast
