The Astorian contest is the sub
ject of discussion m hundreds ot
homes in Astoria and surrounding
country.
The cmnd-nntured tug-of-war has
opened strongly, and the list of candi
dates and aspirants is growing hourly.
The voting has started in earnest and
hv Sunday Aoril 26. at which time the
candidates will be announced for the
fir time and the number of votes
each contestant has, the contest will
have a strong foundation of interest.
t oem there is still some misun
derstanding as tcf when the votes will
be counted. The first count will be
made Sunday, April 26, after which
the ballots will be counted every
morning at 10 o'clock, so as to appear
in the following edition of the As-

after that hour will not appear until
the next issue.
The best way to pull up a large
number of votes is by securing a num
hPr of subscriptions to the Astorian.
A little work now will be worth ten
times the amount later on. Get in the
mntMr with a vim and the Automo
bile, piaio trips and scholarships are
worth vastly more than the ettori.
There is a ballot box in the As
torian office where the votes may be
deposited for any young ladies whom
fit to vote for. If you
cannot bring the ballots to the office,
send them in by mail to the Contest
Mannfffr , and the votes will be ac
corded to the young lady for whom

nr,HA twice. SO there can be no
mistake as to the proper number of
ballots accorded to each candidate
The votes are always open for inspec
tion to insure a fair deal.
