The Portland-Asiatic liner Arabia
is due in this port at any hour, from
China and Japan. Captain Archie
Pease arrived down yesterday to pilot
her up the river.
The ship Henry Villard went to an
anchorage "off Flavel yesterday and
will probably make it to sea sometime
today.
The ship St Nicholas will go to
the stream today, and will take des
patch for Bristol Bay at the first
opportunity.
The flagship of the Kamm line, the
Lurline, Captain McCully, came down
from Portland yesterday evening af
ter nearly two months of retirement
on the. ways for general repair, and
looks very inviting with her new paint
and general embellishment. She is in
fine shape for her summer's business
and will not fail to get her share of
it. She went up on schedule time last
evening with plenty of people in her
cabins and a good block of way
freight. Jack Day, the new agent for
the Kamm line) will assume his duties
here tomorrow morning.
The oil' tank steamer Asuncion
crossed in early yesterday morning
and went on to the metropolis with
out delay.
The steamship Senator went up to
Portland early yesterday morning,
with 360 passengers from San Fran
cisco, and will return down on Satur
day. The steamer Sue H. Elmore will
leave for Tillamook Bay points at 5 !
o'clock this morning.

The steamer Yellowstone is due in
from the Bay City at any time, and
will go direct to the' Tongue Point
mills for her outward cargo.

Yesterday's noon express from ;
Portland brought to' this city a group !
of railway men to attend the regular
annual meeting of the board of di-j
rectors of the Astoria & Columbai
River Railroad Company, and the J
session was held at 4 o'clock in the
afternoon at the office of the company,
on Twelfth street.
The affairs of the company were
discussed at such length as was es
sentia land whe nthcy had been prop
erly disposed of, the election of offi
cers and directors for the ensuing
year was taken Up with the following
result:
President. Francis B. Clark; Secre
tary, M. P. Martin; Comptroller, F.
D. Kuettner; the associate directors
being H. C. Xutt, John McGuire, L.
C. Gillman, A. D. Charlton, and Wil
liam Harder.
In conversation with a reporter of
this paper President Clark said there
was nothing of immediate note, nor
of prospective importance, with re
gard to either the Astoria & Colum
bia, or the Seattle, Portland &
Spokane roads, just at this time, and
that the presence' of the party in As
toria was due solely to the biuiness
exigency of the day, the meeting al
luded to above.
All hands returned to the metropo
lis on the 6:10 train last evening.
