eggs from the country continue on a
liberal cale ami the market as view
ed by Front street jubbcrs is steady,
with the tendency toward weakness.
Occasional shipments north are made,
but they are for the Sound and not
for the Alaskan trade.
For the rest of this week there will
be practically no fresh salmon in the
local market. Advices from the South
today say. that fishing on the Sacra
mento River, the source of supply at
this time, has been interrupted by un
favorable weather , and no further
shipments north will be made for
several days. Other fish are in fair
supply today, with no chaises from
the qtuitations of several days back.
Two cars of Southern cabbage
came in today, and in addition the
steamer last niKht brought a consid
erable quantity of mixed truck. Veg
etable of all sorts arc fairly plentiful
and the market steady, with prices
for the most part unchanged.

state of a child with its father whose
domicile is in another state is- held in
Lanning versus Gregory (Tex.), 10
L. R. A. (N. S. 690, to give the court
of that state no jurisdiction of a suit
by its mother, who is also a nonresi
dent, to secure custody of it

The Forth bridge contains 48,000
tons of steel.
Out of 30,000 inquests held yearly
in the United Kingdom there are 250

The authorities in Chihuahua, Mex
ico, have forbidden the races of the
Tarshumere Indians because of the
betting evils connected therewith.
A learned man in London is attack

and says that this accomplishment is

ANTI-GAMBLING BILLS.
Two Angnew-Hart gambling bills
will come up for final action to-day
and indications tonight were unfav
orable to passage. There are broad
hints of exciting developments in the
Senate to-day.
It is said that word is coming from
political leaders in various parts of
the state to Senators hitherto re
garded as committed to the support
of the bills and that in all cases it is
in the form of requests to vote
against them.
