Yesterday, Saturday, February 22 marked the opening of the greatest sale ever held
in Astoria. At 9 a. m. the doors of the HERMAN WISE Clothing and Furnishing
Store were thrown open and the stock left at the mercy of the buying public. All day the
store was packed with bargain seekers. Enough Clothing, etc. was sold-you would think
to clothe a regiment, while the way the crowds pushed and clamored for bargains was al
most enough to turn the heads of the salespeople.
Even greater results are expected for the coming week. Such prices will be made as
