the large chorus choir which has been
organized for this occasion Ecv. Van
Murter will preach each afternoon 'and
evening during tho week and three times

with the best of recommendations as
faithful Christian workers.

Undo Bill Chance blew in from the
coast country yesterday, and spent the
day jollying bis friends about the city.
He docs not get over here very often be
tween court terms (when he serves as
bailiff) and it is a pleasure to see- and
hear him. Ho always come with a new
yarn, but the text of the one ho brouhgt
in yesterday has been lost in the'
shuffle; but it was a good one, alright,
lie insists he is getting younger very
day, as usual.
Makes Fine Purchase
Claude Phalr, the well known Nehalem
rancher, came to town yesterday morn
ing with a good supply of Berkshires
for the local market. While here h
bought a fin gray 1200-pound Fereheron
horse, and this, mated iwith his other,
will make one of the finest mated teams
in the Nehalem Valley. Mi'. Phair, with
in the Inst year, has purchased nothing
hut selocted, blooded stock for his well
known ranch. Ho leaves for home this
morning well pleased with his purchase.
Major A. D. Rockafollow, of Seaside,
an old and well known Grand Amy
man, is In thl city and indisposed. He

H. Wellington Smith, tho popular
traveling man representing Ptael, Helele
Sl Co., of Portland, is registered at the
Merwyn.
Tom lyeabo, secretary of the State
Hoard of Barbers' Examiners, secretary
of the Portland Barbers' Union, treas
ures of the Portland Trades Council, etc.,
etc., is a delegate to the State Federa
tion of Labor now in session here. On
top of all these titles, Tom is slated for
necretary-treaaurer of tho Federation.
