ORGANIZE FEDERATION.
Endeavor Being Made to Amalgamate
Several Brotherhoods.
: -, n. , ,
NEW YOItK, Nob. 12. liana are be-
Ing diseusiwd for a federation of rail
way employes according to the Times
today ao that strikes of the members
of one brotherhood will involve a strike
of the others. The organization are
the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engl
neeers, the Brotherhood of Locomotive
Fireman, the Brotherhood of Railway
Trainmen, The Order of Railroad Con
ductors, and the Order of R. R. Opera
tor. A federation of this kind was
suggested when the late P. M. Arthur
was the head of the Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers but the plan fell
through becauve the engineers did not
take kindly to it, being conservative
in the matter of sympathetic, strikes.
The brotherhoods are federated on some
of the individual railroad systems, but
has acted so far as a preventive of
strikes. " ' i-;
