Oct. 8.-Pinnl under a log and either unable to bear the terrible pain or fearing that even if resced he would be a helpless cripple for life, Claude Harkness, 30 jears old. pulled a knife from his pocket and cut his throat. Several hours later his life less body was found by his uncle, Marlon Harkncss, who was working in the tim ber with him. How long the unfortunate man cried for assistance will never be known. The ground was torn up on the spot where he was found and tells the mute story of the awful fight he made to free himself before he decided to take his life Harknesa was working on a bijr timber when it rolled over and pinioner him. His libs were crushed to the thighs and doctors assert it is doubt ful if he would have lived had he been rescued alive.
