IS WARMLY GREETED "THAT GIRL FROM TEXAS" IS BILL WHICH PLEASES A CROWDED HOUSE MISS VERSA F EL TON THE STAR. The opera house was crowded last night at the initial performance of the Allen Stock Company, the play given followed in the lines of Jhe good old stock days when comedy, pathos and sentiment was expressed. The company produced "That Girl From Texas" and the stellar role was played by Miss Verna Felton who show ed herself as a most capable leading lady, holding her audience with her clever conception and handling of the part, in a most pleasant atmosphere; she varied from the lighter moods to the more effective one with such an ease as to be a delight and treat for all who witnessed the play. Mr. Irving Kennedy proved himself worthy of his part as Lotd Arthur and carried it through with much skill. As Hans, the eccentric German, Mr. Seabury made the real fun of the piece and as a comedian, touched the humor ous side of his part, giving all its points. S!x. Avres played Shann McCrey ef fectively, di-playing no effort, but that 01 ease and grace. The company as a whole is strong, precise in their work and absolute in nit their details. The play for this evening will be a farce comedy entitled "Whose Baby Are You?" The Portland critics who saw the Allen Stock Company in this play two weeks ago, give it their highest praise and recommendation. A laugh from start to fini-h. ' ; H00 H00S IN SESSION.
