NEW YOliK, July 30. A feature of
the lire which destroyed the mammoth
Long Beach Hotel, and In which nearly
a thousand guests were driven out in
the sand in want nltire has jut de
veloped. In tlielr hurried flight the
guests abandoned money, jewelry, and
other valuable property, and looters, It
appears, were quick to take advniilHge
of the fact. Detectives who were sent
to the scene arrested three colored wait
ers and a Greek laborer and stolen prop
erty, it is stated, was found in their
low.iim. The men were held on a
charge of grand larceny.
Justice Wallace, who gave the bond
looters a hearing, was informed that
the thieves had buried stolen property
in the sand dune back of the hotel site
and he ordered men out to make
4earvh. The amount of property they
recovered was surprising. Wherever there
was a sign that the sand had been re
cently disturbed excavation were made
and something brought to light. Ity dark
the justice had in his pos-esiton several
trunks full of stuff, bag, satchels,
bundle, and boxt containing valuables.
He had rings and pins and stickpin-,
watches and chains and ft great collec
tion of all sorts of jeweled combs and
silver backed toilet articles and sonic
Jresse and suits.
When it became too dark for further
search, a guard was set over the prop
erty. AU property owner will I kept
from the vicinity. More men will be
put to work this afternoon ou another
search of the ruin.

The Doctor Away hom Home When
Most Needed.
People are often - very much disap
pointed to find that their family phy
sician is away from home when they
most need his services. Diseases like
cramp colic and cholera morbus require
prompt treatment, and have In many
instances proven fatal before medicine
could be procured or a physician sum
moned. The right way is to keep at
hand a bottle of Chamberlain's Colic,
Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. No
physician can prescribe a better mldicine
for these diseases. By having It in the
house you escape much pain and suffer
ing and all risk. Buy it now; it may
save life. For sale by Frank Hart and
leading druggists.
