0EOBGIA RAILROAD DEAL. "
Central of Georgia Will go Over to Rock
Island.
NEW YORK, June 29. The Time to
day say that control of the Central of
Georgia Railroad, which wa purchased
on Wednesday, by Oaklcigh Thome and
Marsden J. Perry, will eventually pass
to the Rock-Island and Frisco interests,
if predictions made in railroad, circle
prove well founded. It waa said that
Messrs. Thome and Perry purchased the
Central of Georgia, with an understand
ing between themselves and the Rock
Island interests, that formal control of
the road should pass to the St. Louis
and San Francisco, after the expiration
of the two year during which the pres
ent holders of the road have agreed to
keep it an Independent line.
It was pointed out that close rela
tions have existed between Mr. Thorne
and B. F. Yoakum, who is the guiding
spirit in the affairs of the Rock Island
Frisco systems. Mr. Yoakum is a di
rector in the Trust Companies of Amen
Ica, of which Mr. Thome is President
and in other ways he and Mr. Yoakum
have co-operated in business underta
kings. ;hf. ;
The St. Louis and San Francisco sys
tem ha a line into Birmingham, Ala,,
and at that point it connects indirectly
with the Central of Georgia, whose line
run from Birmingham from Montgom
ery and from Chatanooga to the coast
at Savannah. In addition to obtaining
this outlet to the Atlantic seaboard,
the Frisco, in acquirins the Central of
Georgia, will come into control of
a large amount of traffic originating in
the territory served by the Central of
Georgia.
