COMMUTES HIS AHNOUNCED THE EVENTS FOR THE DAT AND PROMISES A LIVELY TIMS FROM START TO FINISH. , ; The Fourth of July committee has ' completed the program for the coming celebration and it gives promise of "be ing on of the beat days in this line that Astoria ha ever bad. a ' IThe first thing in the morning will be ' the parade at 10:30. In the line of march will be seen the various fraternal . organizations,' soldiers from the fort, the school children, the police and fire - departments the council and many oth ers. For the best decorated floats in the , parade prixes of . $20 and $10 , will be warded. For the fraternal society pre- aenting the most unique appearance priaea of 20 and $10 will be awarded. Thebest decorated buildings will draw prizes of $33, $20 and $10. , Immediately after the parade the literary exercises at te City Hall will take place. .They will be as follows: ' Invocation tlie Kev Father John Waters; Reading of the Declaration of Independ- enee, J. Otto Eriekon; Oration, John ' C. MeCue. John IL Smith will W presi dent of the day. During the program music will be Interpersed by the two bands of twenty piece each that have been engaged by the committee,, The ' exercises at tba pty Hall will conclude the mornings fun. , . The first thing in the afternoon will he the races and--there are races of avery kind for those wishing to compete. The prizes offered are many and hand some and the fortunate' one will be well pleased. The entrance fee to the races will be 25 cents and all entry must be in the bands of the secretary an or before July 3ri The prizes for the 100 yard 220 yard 'and 440 yard dashes are three handsome silver loving cups. The cups will be placed on exi bition this morning in the 'window of Seymour's jewelry store..', ''. The first thing in the evening will be the fireworks displayed from the hill at the head of Ninth street. The com mittee has already received quite a eonsignment of pyrotechnice and has more on the road. After the fireworks at 0 p. m. the grand hall at Logan's will start and with it will end another , glorious Fourth in Astoria.
