There are many signs pointing to a general shut down of the logging camps in the Columbia River Valley. Many have already decided to close on the first o the month for mi indefinite period and today a geneml meeting will be held of all the big timber-cutters to decide whether this movement shall be come general. It i generally believed that most of the large owner will 1 in sympathy with a universal stoppage. The present prevailing prices for timber and lumber are, they say, ruinous. A shut down would irlve the loggers an opportunity to get rid of what is at nreweiit cut. and would also give a chance to prices to recover themselves. W. F. McGregor of Astoria, although unable to attend personally, will lie represented at the meeting. Talking Machines.
