Warrenton Itnuobull Club gave a
dance in Warrrn's Hall last Saturday
night. From a nnanclnl standpoint it
was not a very good success. This Is
to be regretted for the team have no
other moans of obtaining money to
meet their expenses, excepting through
voluntary subscriptions. As regards
the dance Itself the musicians engag
ed for the occasion were unable to at
tend and three local players, Miss C,
C. Munson, and Messrs. B. Crandnll
and C. Dow wora kind enough to sup
ply the music
On Sunday afternoon the Warren
ton Baseball Club met with their first
dofeat this season, the victor were
the Devoe nine from Portland. The
game was begun In a drlxsllng rain
combined with a strong wind. Devoe's
were 11 rat to bat two men were dis
posed of without a run, although a
man was on first, second snd third
bases, then the most disastrous event
occurred. Ryan hit the ball on the
third strike, tallying three runs. With
the completion of the eight innings
the game was stopped to enable the
visitors to catch their train. The score
standing In Devoe's favor by 10 runs
against Warrenton's C
