APPEARANCES
Often a person is sized up by his appear
ance; by the tone that surrounds him. And
more often a business house is sized up by
the stationary it 'uses. A cheap letter
head or a poor bill head gives a mighty
poor first impression and makes business
harder to transact. Good printing costs no
more than poor printing. The first im
pression is half the battle in business.
You wouldn't employ a "sloppy" sales
man; why put up with "sloppy" station
ery, that gives a wrong impression of the
importance of your business. Let us do
your printing and help you to make that'
ten strike.

Th Jeep aea, flitting InJuatry of
Puget Bound," anld Mr. Alexander,
"with which I am very familiar, waa
t year worth Jut ,000,000 to the
commerce of the State of Waihlng-
ton. The total fighting bualnea of
the Bound amounted to 110,480,000,
which ahowa that ao far aa that local
Ity la concerned, the deep aea flatting
bualn I worth far mor than all
th other put togother. And aa great
aa la tha value of the aalmon Ashing
InduKtry of Aatorla at thla time, and
aa great aa It alway haa been, I be
lieve that the deep aea fishing bual
no can be developeJ and made more
valuable than th aalmon flohlng ever
haa been or ever can be.
'It aeem to me that the people of
Aatorla do not fully realize all of the
good thing that they have all about
them In the way of naturnl resource.
t believe I can aay without egotism
that no one know more of the 'In
and out of deep w Ashing than I
do and that If I could but secure a
eultable location here at what I con
elder a croner flaure, I would not
hesitate to locate here at once. I
know that there are other Industrie
going to locate here right away and
that In a short time It will possibly
be difficult to find room for all of
them, but none will prove of more
value than the deep sea fishing. Of
this I am sure and certain a I ever
have been or anything In all my life.
"Now aa to a site for my proposed
Astoria deep aea Ashing plant I have
found that the price of waterfront
property hcre la held at what I con
sider a very high price. And It aeem
to me that the. location of new Indus
tries and enterprise might be more
encouraged If sltos were offered at
more reasonable figure. And Indeed
In the case of an enterprise like mine
It would doubtless be of greater bene
fit to the city than it would to me,
should the cltlxcn here through their
Chamber of Commerce or otherwise
make l( especially easy for mo to
secure a permanent location. Should
they ice fit to do thl I will promise to
give them one of the largest business
enterprise within the next tew year
that can be found anywhere In the
northwest.
"This 1 only a suggestion thrown
out but it might be well if your cltl-
sens would give It careful consMora
tlon and then their approval."
