ticket together with a circular letter.

council committee In charge of such
matter, opened the bid heretofore
called for the construction of the new
fire department building at Seven
teenth and Commercial street, the
following being noted in that behalf.

The committee will report the pre
sentation to the council at Ita next
scsnlon, one week from Monday next,
recommending tho adoption of the
figure of C. Y. Pulmberg, In tha one
Instance, and thosj of W. C. Laws, in
the other, so the probable coat of the
building will aggregate the sum of
111.475.
According to the present plan the
new building is to be 99x75 feet and
will be equipped with room for one
engine, hook and ladder truck, hose
carriage, stall for nine head of
horses; office rooms, workrooms, stor
age rooms and sleeping quarter with
sitting-room, lavatory and bath; and
when comploted will be among the
nicest and most convenient of such
buildings In the state.

Master John Garner fell Into the

playing with several other children

Extend Logging Road
The Sorrenson Logging Company re
ceived a carload of rails yesterday for
their railroad near Svensen. Hereto
fore their logs were dumped Into the
slough near Hs head. Now the road is
hclng extended down to a connection
with the A. & C. and the logs will be
dumped Just above where the Junction
Is made. This Improvement will also
enable them to switch all their sup
plies onto their own track Instead of
going to the expense of transporting
them.

Mrs. Long, of Grays River, left the
hospital for her home yesterday, hav
ing sufficiently recovered from an
operation for appendicitis.
Miss Marie Wells after a nine weeks'
leave yesterday for her home In Tills
mook.
Mrs. Johnson returned yesterday to
her home In Aberdeen having come to
tho hospital to have an operation for
appendicitis.
Miss Beth Darling, a nurse, leaves
today for Portland where she will
finish her training in St. Vincent's
hospital.
