The Norwegian steamship Hornellen, from the California coast. Port Lot AngWes, came into port yesterday an J went on to Portland after a brief atop here. Her commander. Captain Nel on. Is well known at this port, having serred for several years as mate on the pilot schooner off the Columbia river. He was made to feel quite at home among his old ship-mates at the pilot office, and went up the river with the Norwegian consul at Portland, an un cle, as his guest, and who came down here to meet the steamr. The steamship Roanoke made her way Into port from the California coast on Sunday morning and left a few passengers and quite a lot of freight for this place, going on to the metropolis an hour or two later. The swift vessels Telephone and Telegraph are to be utilized on the Columbia river this summer, the for mer on the Dalles run of Portland, and the latter on the Astoria-Portland run, beginning next Monday. The Armerla went to sea and Puget Sound on Sunday morning last, with Commander J. P. Werllch on board as the guest of Captain Gregory. This is her first cruise under her new assign ment to this station. The O. R. & N. Company will add the steamer Elmore to the Columbia river fleet at an early date, to ease off the Hassalo , which is being tax ed pretty heavely in the freight line this season. The British steamship Quito coaled at the Sanborn bunkers on Sunday af ternoon, taking on fifty tons or more, and left out yesterday morning for the Orient, with her immense load of bread-stuffs .
