The Committee of Fifteen appointel by Judge Mayer Suhberger, of Philadelphia, to select thirty five members so as to form with them a committee of American Jews. it was announced yesterday have divided the country into twelve districts and selected representatives from this dis trict in numbers corresponding roughly with the Jewish population. '".' It is expieted that the committee will find it necessary to increase its member ship or adopt some means by which an advisory council .may cooperate with them. A meeting of the Committee will be held Sunday November 25th. Among the members are M. Ansalger, Denver- j Sig Sichei, Portland; and M. C. Sloss and Rev. J. V. Ostrander of San Fran cisco. The purpose of the committee is to render aid to the Jews in Russia and to be prepared at all times to enlist the sympathy of other powers on behalf of Jews in Russia on occasion of persecu tion and distress. EXPEDITION ARRIVES. Two Carloads of Skeletons Secured for . English Museum. NEW YORY Oct. 24 Three big expe ditions of the American Museum of Nat ural History arrived from the Rocky Mountain rejrion yesterday after sev eral .months rough work, bringing two carloads of petrified skeletons of nearly five hundred animaiB, many new to sci ence, some of whom lived on the earth it is estimated by the scientists hun. dreds of centuries ago . Among the many rare findings were two dinosauri, new to science, one of which was of huge proportions bearing some resemblance to the great creature known as tricera tops. The expeditions were conducted under Prof. Henry Fairfield Osborne, paneol ligtet of the museum, and of the governments of the United States and Canada. The expeditions covered the Washaki basins in southern Wyoming, the Laramie Formation of Eastern Cen tral Montana and the Black Hills. STEAMER ARRIVES. THE PERFECT WAY. Mayor Weaver today suppressed the further production and publication of the "Clansman" as a result of last night's demonstration by negroes in front of the Walnut theater. Dated Astoria, October 18, 1000. 10-18-10t One Hundred and Twelve Horses Lost During Cyclone. - Havana, Oct. 24. The British steamer Kanawha, Captain Maxwell, which left Newport News October 10th, for this port, with 600 horses of the Eleventh Cavalry on board has arrived after hav ing suffered severly in the recent cyc lone. One hundred and twelve horses were lost. A battalion of the Seven teenth Infantry has left camp Columbia for Ciego de Avila. There are only three cases of yellow fever in Havana. Of the fifteen cases reported since October 2nd ten have been discharged and two have died.
