NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT
the assessment made for improving
Tenth street from the South line of
Commercial street to the South line of
Exchange street, as per assessment roll
number 128, was made by an order of
the common council due and payable on
the 1st day of October, 1908, by ordin
ance number 3294, confirming said as
sessment roll, that the following are
the names of the persons against whom
to the depth of eight inches when thor
oughly rolled and with a six inch crown
in the center thereof, and said grade
when the macadam is placed shall be
to a depth of eight inches below the
established grade.
In maters of detail said improvement
shall be constructed according to the
plans and specifications therefor to be
prepared by the City Surveyor as here
inafter provided and general ordinance
No. 1901 and any matter of construction
and drainage found necessary to make
the improvement safe or substantial
shall be done by the contractor whether
specified or not, without extra charge.
That the cots and expenses of con
structing said improvement shall be de
frayed by special assesment upon the
lots, lands and premises benefitted by
the same, which lots, lands and prem
ises are included in the special assess
ment district including all lots, lands
and premises so benefitted to wit: Lots
7 and 8 in block 37; lots 5 and 6 in
block 36; lots 1, 2, 7 and 8 in block 52;
lots 1, 2 7, and 8 in block 78; lots 1 and
2 in block 83; lots 3 and 4 in block 82;

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO IMPROVE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT
the Common Council of the City of
Astoria has declared its determination
and intention to improve Franklin ave
nue from a point fect West
of the center line of Fourth street to
a point eight feet East of the center
line of Third street by grading said
street to the established grade to the
width of 20 feet through the center
thereof, and macadamizing said street
to the width of 16 feet through the
center thereof. Said improvement shall
be made by grading said street to the
width of 20 feet through the center
thereof to the established grade and to
a sub-grade of eight inches below the
established grade to the width of 16
feet through the center thereof; with
a six-inch crown in the center and by
macadamizing and filling in said street
to the width of 16 feet through the
center thereof with crushed rock or
macadam to the depth of eight inches
when thoroughly rolled.
In matters of detail said improve
ment shall be constructed according to
the plans an depeeiflcationg therefor to
be prepared by the City Surveyor as

dinance No. 1901 and any matter of
construction and drainage found neces
sary to make the improvement safe or
substantial shall be done by the con
tractor whether specified or not, with

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, THAT
the Common. Council of the City of
Astoria declared Its determination and
intention to repair Commercial street
from the East line of Ninth street to
the west line of Fourteenth street. Said
repairs shall consist of removing all the
old street decking, from curb to curb,
including the croslngs, and between
Ninth and Tenth streets, straightening
up the stringers so as to bring the street
to the established grade, and filling in
where necessary to do o, and by re
planking the street on the existing
stringers from the East line of Ninth
street to the West line of Fourteenth
street with good sound yellow fir lura
ber 4 inches in thickness by 12 inches
In width. All old material that is suit
able for use in repairing streets shall
be taken away and stored by the su
perintendent of streets as the am I
taken up by the contractor, and that
which Is worthless shall be removed
by the contractor at his own expense
and not dumped under the roadway, and
the decking on said itreet at the in
tersection of Commercial street and
Twelfth street, or from the West line
to the East line of Twelfth street, shall
be surfaced on three sides, sired and
ell dried and upon said crossings when
so replanked a coating of Elastic
Cooked Asphalt to the depth of 1
inches shall be placed, and rolled with a
hot Asphalt Roller, to present a smooth
surface; said asphalt to be spread upon
said intersection on the street decking.
In matters of detail said improvement
shall be constructed according to the
plane and specifications therefor to be
prepared by the City Surveyor as here- j

ed by Cyrus Olney, and running thence
East through the niildle of Blocks 25.
59, 58 and 67, in McClure's Astoria, and
tract "A of McClure's Astoria as laid
out and recorded by the Astoria Real
Estate A Exchange Company, to the
Northeast corner of Lot 5, in said tract
"A," and running thence South along
the East line of said Tract "A" and
also the East line of Block 136 in that
part of the City of Astoria laid out
and recorded by John M. Shively to
the Southeast corner of said Block 136
in said Shively's Astoria, and thence
running West along the South line of
said Block 136 to the Southwest corner
thereof, and thence running North along
the West line of said Block 138 to a
point where the West line of said Block
136 would be intersected by the South
line of Lot 4 in Block 62, in that part
