Tbe steamship Costa Rica is due in today from San Francisco with 0. R. t X. freight, but no passengers. The schooner Prosper from Portland should be down the river tomorrow on her way to San Francisco. The steamship Vermont is due down from Portland tomorrow or Tuesday, en route to Shanghai, with 3.200.000 feet of lumber. 1 The gteamship Altec is due to arrive down from Portland on Tuesday next, and will take S00 tons of freight hence to San Francisco. The Lurline was nearly two hours late last night in getting down from Portland, and left up with a fair list of over Sunday visitors for the metrop olis at 11 o'clock. The steamer Sue H. Elmore will make run to Sileti and Alsea when she goes out again. The steamer Voeburg will carry her Tillamook consignment for one voyage. The Xorth Head wires were down again yesterday, the storm of Friday night baving disturbed them. They were in good working order at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The big Potter came down yesterday afternoon with a small string of pas sengers for the northshore beaches. She bad an awful lot of room to spare, from the looks of things aboard. Captain C. L Hooghkirk, master of. the steamer Iralda, running between Portland and Rainier, was in the city yesterday, accompanied by Mrs. Hoogh kirk, en route home, from an outing in the Coos Bay country. The cruiser Dogali went to the lower harbor at noon yesterday and at 3:30 o'clock crossed out, on her way to Seat tle and Tacoma. The Spreckels tug Sea Rover went to sea yesterday afternoon with the oil barge Fullerton, en route to San Fran cisco, and will return here at once for the ship Two Brothers, now loading lumber- at Stella. The steamer Tiverton went to sea and San Francisco yesterday afternoon at 8-30 o'clock. The bar was pounding pretty savagely, but the wind was down fairly and the Pacific looked in viting to those inside waiting for an offing. The steain'hip Roanoke is due in this port some time tomorrow, from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Eureka. She has the distinction of being the only adequate passenger packet winning in here, in the coast service. The steamer Alliance will go on the. dry-dock today to have her propeller re bladcd, one, and apart of another, hav ing been lost off during her recent trip up the coast. She will probably be down from Portland on Wednesday af ternoon. The steamship Francis II. Lcggett ar rived in from Eureka yesterday morning, after the Hammond log raft, now lying iu the lower harbor, awaiting towage to San Francisco. She has on board a million feet of lumber, four millions of shingles, taken on at Eureka, and when she gets underway today with her KV 000,000 foot sea-raft, she will be in Hue for earning her keep anyway. She went to the Callender pier for the purpose of filling her fresh water tanks yester day morning, and then to the lower har bor, where she will await the tow, which will be delivered to her on the high- sea by Captain Bailey and the Tatoosh ; this morning. , The barkentine Chehalis has docked : at the Columbia mill dock at Knappton.j and will load out lumber for San Fran- j cisco. j t The Callender steamer Jordan, with, the captain of the same name, with j Charley tacked on in front to distinguish him from the vessel, left up yesterday : for Portland, with three big barges in tow: one for Quincy bearing a logging engine, a hunting scow for Quinn's Landing and the third with a logging locomotive on it, for Portland. The State Supreme Court in a decision today grunts a new trial in the Snohomih County breach of-promise suit of Jen nie Iranian against Alexander Thomp son The lower court this-w the suit out of court because the first promise was made a year liefore the woman had secured a divorce from h''r first hus band, but as the promise was renewed after the divorce, the Supreme court says she has a right of action.
