Notice is hereby given, that the Com
mon Council of the City of Astoria has
declared its determination and inten
tion to construct a drain on Melbourne
avenue from the alley-way running
through block 17, Taylor's Astoria, to
a point 70 feet south of the south line
of Taylor avenue. Said drain shall con
sist of box drain of 15 inches inside
measurement, and shall be constructed
of planking three inches in thickness
and from the north to the south line
of Alameda avenue, there shall be
ten-inch vitrified sewer pipe laid in the
box, and said drain shall be laid a suf
ficient depth and on proper grade to
give sufficient drainage.
In matters of detail said improve
ment shall be constructed according to
the plans and specifications therefore to
be prepared by the City Surveyor as
hereinafter provided and any matter of
construction and drainage found neces
sary to make the Improvement safe or
substantial shall be done by the con
tractor whether specified or not, with
out extra charge.
That the costs and expense of con
structing said Improvement shall be de
frayed by special assessment upon the
lots, lands and premises benefitted bv
the same which said lot, lands and
premises are Included In the special as

north line of Harrison avenue to the
north lino of Kensington avenue to the
full width thereof, end upon the estab
lished grade thereof. From the north
line of Harrison avenue to the south
line of living avenue, anld str-rt shall
be Improved by grading the same to
the established grade to the full width
theieof, and routruetliig sidewalks J)
feet wide on each side thereof, and
planking the same to a width of 20 feet
through the renter thereof, with planks
3 Inches thick and 12 Inches wide. From
the south linn of Irving avenue to the
north line of Kensington avenue, said
street shall be Improved by grading ths

ing sidewalks 8 feet wile on each side
thereof.
The lumber to be used In construct

or yellow fir lumber.

tion and drainage found necessary to
