FISH IN COLORADO
AND UTAH WATERS
For a numlicr of years now fish in
the mountain streams contiguous to the
line of the Denver & Kio Grande Rail
road in Colorado and Utalt have been
increasing in great numlwrs. The United
States government and State hatcheries
arc each year planting a hundred times
more fish (trout) than are taken out of
the streams by hook and line. Prior to
1904 the anual planting was between
2.000,000 and 3,000,000. In 1004 the
number reached 6,320,000 and in 1905,
7,000,000. It is expected that even this
astonishing record 'yill be excluded in J
1006. 'This continuous fish propagation
insures the angler first-class sport for
years, to come. The 1005 distribution
in detail is shown on the accompanying
sheet.
From tbe war the conl mine owners
are stacking away the coal and then
building stockades around it. one would
suppose there was danger of its getting
away from its corner or is it their
corner! For certainly it cannot be the
ubiquitous sort known as run of the
mine.
