The stesmer South Ituy went to Sn
Franti"co yesterday afternoon.
The steamer Jeannie, for the Bay
City, got away over the bar on the
afternoon tide, yesterday.
The Freneh bark .Tariie came down
frm Portland yesterday and wa tok
en to sea. at once.
The stesnmhip Columbia left out for
San Francisco yesterday morning, with
thirty-two paienger from Portland,
but none from AtorU.
The steamer Nome City came down
from Portland early yesterday morning
and left outward tot San Fram-inco on
the afternoon flood.
The stesmer Jordan met with a slight
accident to her machinery on her morn
ing trip out of thia port yesterday and
returned here for repair. She left tip
the river late in the day, but in time to
make her round of calls end return
here this morning.
Capt. Wilbur Babbage was in Ihe city
negotisting for th stesmer Flora
Brown Wednesday. Capt. Babbage has
built two steamers himself, the Elm-trlc
and Electra. It is understood that no
deal was made on the Flora Brown.

Ilassslo will not be out on the Potter's
run until some time next month. She
will swsit the recorery of her chief
engineer who i convalescing from a
broken leg in one of the Portland ho
pital, for one thing, and there are
